Tim Borowiec is an independent filmmaker from Peekskill, New York. From a very young age, he wanted to play for the Yankees – this didn’t pan out. What he did eventually find was a passion and possible addiction to storytelling – in high school, this meant monthly short films and two original plays. In college, it meant ambitious class projects, constant collaboration, and a low-budget feature on the side. Since graduating, he’s directed a short horror film, The Itch, and is channeling the rest of his energy into developing feature scripts.

 

There’s nothing in his life that compares to the feeling of being behind the camera; of hatching an idea and turning it into a reality. He’s made projects in a number of different genres, but what unites them all is a distinct visual language, patient tempo, and a tendency towards minimalism that focuses his attention where it’s most needed: message, theme, and character. That, and the fondest memories he’s got.

 

Tim is an alum of the Savannah College of Art and Design, with a B.F.A. in Film & Television and a minor in Dramatic Writing. He graduated magna cum laude in 2024. His mom is a teacher so this was mostly a foregone conclusion.

 

A movie nerd at heart, Tim managed to pry himself away from his blu-ray collection long enough to gain some valuable professional experience. He was an intern and production assistant on Bleecker Street’s The Fabulous Four, and a background actor on Apple TV’s Fly Me to the Moon and Netflix’s May December, which is one of the absolute best films of 2023.

He was also the BTS Videographer on Kronos Media’s 99.9 Fear FM.
